Story
In June 2019, Oodle Car Finance are sending 11 of their employees to Kenya, to take part in a very special construction project. Partnered with Camps Foundation the team will be assisting with the construction of a primary school for the local children.
I am lucky enough to be part of the team from Oodle Car Finance, that will be getting stuck in to help build the school. Whether it is crafting paper from elephant dung, to building desks, walls or the floor. We'll be there to help, as much as we can.
In Kenya and many parts of the world, education is a luxury and not every child has the same access to education, as we do here in the UK. Schools in Kenya are supported by the local government who will provide funding for teachers and meals during the school day for the children. This is a big help for these communities and means children will receive a meal, for every day they are at school. However, these amenities are only provided to schools that are physically built. This is where we come in! By providing the help to build the school, we can provide the launch pad for local governments to build upon.
I feel very lucky to have grown up in the UK, where I have had access to clean water, plenty of food and an education system that is easily accessible. Growing up, (like most children) I took for granted these services and would even grumble (on occasion) about going to school. So now, I am trying to provide the same opportunity to children that are not as lucky to be in the same situation, as I was in.
Keep an eye out for some events, activities and opportunities to embarrass myself coming soon. For now, thank you for any donations you are able to spare, every donation will make a big difference to these children and their education for years to come.

5 years agoIn the background I have been trying to raise what I can and have been matching donations, where possible. This combined with some donations received offline from friends and family, has meant I have nearly reached my target of £1,300. My current fundraising amount currently stands at *drum roll*.... £1,150! I only need around £150 left, to meet my target. So any last minute donations are really appreciated.

5 years agoIn December we held a "pie your manager/colleague" event in the Oodle office. Willing participants (myself included), would face the brunt of our colleagues pie throwing skills, all in the name of raising money for our trip to Kenya. I was "lucky enough" to have four pies thrown at me and I have included one of my highlights below (it's the sadistic grin I find the most amusing). With these pies, came more donations which now puts my total at: £183.00 Thanks again to everyone who took part.

5 years agoSo, to kick off the fundraising in November I decided to hold a "Boozy Raffle" in the Oodle office. To enter the raffle a donation had to be made to this page or cash given to me in person. The winner would win, £35 worth of alcohol (Pictured below). This raffle raised a massive £163. So thank you to everyone who took part.
