Weʼre raising £2,000 to Help fund a new tennis wheelchair for Lucy Shuker

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Lucy started playing Wheelchair Tennis in 2002 following a motorbike accident which left her paralysed from the chest down. She has since gone on to represent Great Britain at three successive Paralympics; Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016. You can read more on Lucy here.

Lucy is a personal friend of mine, a Paralympian medallist and lives right here in Fleet, Hampshire. Lucy is presently the UK number 1 wheelchair tennis champion, world number 5 in singles and number 3 in doubles. Lucy recently came runner-up at Wimbledon this year and is in need of a new competitive wheelchair which she travels and competes with as she represents us during competition. A competitive wheelchair is a made to measure chair and designed specifically for wheelchair athletes which differs significantly from day-to-day chairs.

Let's show Lucy support and how much we appreciate her inspiration as she represents us!

What a day! Thank you Lucy for taking the time to come visit us in the office and helping with the prize draw. We congratulate Paul for winning our Wii Tennis Champions and Chris for runner up with a special mention to Michael, who well came third.

Let the games begin! A member of IT will be making rounds collecting mufti money, selling raffle tickets for the prize draws (to happen at 1530/1600) and Baby Face quizzes (all £1 each). There is also a CHL Knockout Wii Tennis competition, sponsored by Tracey Gilbert® (£1 entry). IT will be placing names on a signup sheet in the staff room and will let individuals know when their match begins.

Many thanks to all of you who have already donated...I am humbled and grateful at your generosity and support. There is a brilliant article covering Lucy's recent play at Wimbledon this (http://4theloveofsport.co.uk/2018/07/17/lucy-shuker-shines-at-wimbledon/). For those of you from the office, we have had some great prizes already donated: Fleet Town Council donating an annual membership to Calthorpe Park Tennis! The picture below is of Lucy and I, after being snowed in back in March she was fed up being stuck indoors and we met in town.
