I love golf and I'm starting to love running so what better way to raise money for our Lady Captain's chosen charity than to run the Manchester 10K in aid of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation along with my lovely daughter Sarah!

I have a medical history of both breast and womb cancer and as such I am a perfect example of how your generous donations help cancer patients. In 2010 I received intensive radiotherapy at the Rosemere Centre and more recently in February this year I underwent surgery for a total hysterectomy using the amazing DaVinci Xi Robotic Surgical System, which the Rosemere Cancer Foundation is funding on an ongoing basis. This non invasive surgical system meant I was back playing golf after three weeks and running came a couple of weeks later.

The Rosemere Cancer Centre will be 20 years old this year! To celebrate that milestone, the Rosemere launched its 20th Anniversary Appeal on 1st March to raise £1.5m for 3 ground breaking projects, one of which is the Robotic Surgical System, which will benefit patients such as myself throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please donate what you can to this wonderful cause and help me say a huge thank you to all those involved in my treatment.
