I am planning to spend 4 weeks in Cambodia helping to rebuild villages, farming and environmental projects. Cambodia and it's people are still recovering from a horrendous and tragic past yet their optimism is an inspiration to me as they have next to nothing. Children are keen to be educated, however they have to leave school at 13 to take on responsibilities and duties to support the family. Schools are often outdoors as are the kitchens. If it rains, which it does often, food for the children cannot be prepared and they have to go hungry. This project that I will be involved in will be building kitchens for these schools with rooves so food can be prepared every day.
I am so keen to go and help that I will be embarking on many fundraising projects in order to achieve the £4000 needed. I will be helping people dispose of their Christmas trees, holding quiz nights and car boot sales as well as sponsored walk across the Greensands ridge- 42 miles in 2 days.
