I support dyslexic students on a day-to-day basis in school. While there is a lot of fabulous support going on in lessons, exams can be incredibly stressful.
Some dyslexic students are entitled to a reader in exams but this can be tricky - some teenagers find it hard to be seen asking somebody to read for them. Added to this, having a person waiting for up to three hours to see if they NEED to read a word or phrase is a costly way to do things...and we are VERY short-staffed too!
A set of reading pens would combat this. Students can be independent, staff can support other needs.
PLEASE help me to make this happen! Schools just don't have the funds for extras like this, but the difference that they can make is incredible!
Being cheeky - TWO sets would be A-MA-ZING...if any of you know of any corporate bids who might like to sponsor a set, I'd make sure people knew about it!
