What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

2018 will mark 5 years since I dragged myself down to Wilton park to start day 1 of ‘couch to 5K’... and what better way to celebrate than by setting myself 5 running challenges and trying to raise vital funds for causes close to my heart.

My 2018 itinerary looks a bit like:

January – Half Marathon Training/Reminiscing About Christmas Dinner

February - Brighton Half Marathon

March – More Half Marathon Training/Might Have a Nap

April - Sheffield Half Marathon

May - Leeds Half Marathon

June, July, August, September - Marathon Training/Occasional Ice Cream

October - Yorkshire Marathon

November - Las Vegas Half Marathon

December - Pigs in Blankets

I will be training Rocky Balboa style (minus the eggs) to try and get a half decent time in all the races whilst ensuring I avoid injury and am still able to bust a move at the 2018 Christmas party which means running 3 - 4 times a week and cross training 2 - 3 times a week... I will be dedicating the majority of my time in 2018 to running but it will all be worthwhile if I'm able to achieve my £555 fundraising target.

All money raised will be split evenly between Batley Food Bank (http://www.batleyfoodbank.org.uk) and Batley Homeless Project (https://www.facebook.com/batleyhomelessproject/). Two organisations, based in my beloved hometown that do such incredible work in the face of ever increasing demand and scarcity of supply. It's shameful that they have to exist but it's fortunate that there are so many generous people working hard to provide this vital support for our community.

To reward your generosity, for every £1 you donate you will be entered in to a raffle to win a cover (by me) of any song of your choice, a signed copy of my album, and a signed copy of my EP. There will be a draw every month from February to November. You are, of course, welcome to opt out of this if you are not a fan!

Any and all support will be very gratefully received. Whether it’s a donation, a share of this link, or a cheer when you spot me crawling along Bradford Road!

Running has changed my life and I hope that through completing this challenge I am able to support two fantastic organisations that are changing the lives of so many.
