The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
This summer I will be braving the 12,000 ft jump in order raise money for two charities that are very close to my heart.
Bloom welcomes asylum seekers and refugees into our City and focuses on helping them integrate and flourish through home visits, friendship and providing resources to help create safe homes. Their vision is to help those arriving begin a new life here in Swansea, to thrive and bloom! In the summer of 2015, Europe experienced the highest influx of refugees since the second world War. Some of you reading this may ask “What is a refugee?’ A refugee is defined as ‘a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster’. However refugees are not just a person, or not just a number, or not just a refugee. They’re mothers, daughters, fathers and sons, each one with a remarkable story that tells a resilience in the face of great loss. I have been lucky enough to volunteer for this local charity over the past year. Meeting the amazing people who have been stripped of their homes and forced to move to Swansea but still have a positive outlook on life. These families have forced me to put things into perspective and realise just how lucky I am. If you would like to find out more information about what Bloom does in the local community, please check out their Facebook page at Bloom Swansea.
Cancer Research UK work tirelessly to find a cure to cancer. Cancer is an illness that enters everyone's lives, whether it's having cancer yourself or knowing someone who has had the illness. Having lost a close family member to Cancer and experiencing the devastation first hand, I want to raise money to help researchers find a cure so that Cancer doesn't take another life. 1 in 2 people will have cancer in their lifetime, a statistic that I found alarming. This number is way to high but without sufficient funding, researchers don't stand a chance in finding a cure. I've decided that I need to do something that will make people notice. My fear of heights may make this experience difficult for me but it's nothing compared to what these people have to face everyday. So, if I can help in anyway by being brave and jumping out of a plane, it's a fear I'm willing to face.
As you can see these are two worthy charities to support. Any donations will be appreciated, no donation is too small and every penny makes a difference! Please help me spread the word by sharing this across social media networks. Thank you for supporting me in this challenge, I can't wait to take the leap this summer.
