    Story

JCB Lands End To John O'Groats Cycle Challenge

Holt JCB are delighted to be supporting and joining George Bamford in his quest to complete the Lands’ End to John O’Groats cycle challenge starting on 3rd September 2021.

The cycle challenge will take part over 10 days and will comprise of 10 legs, covering a total of 1,010 miles, with the aim of raising £10,000 for charity, with the hope of each day/leg of the ride raising £1,000 for local charities along the way. JCB have two charity partners for the first two legs of the race which are “2021 let’s get it done” for Autistic Children and Children’s Hospice South West.

Holt JCB will be joining George in the first two legs of the race which go through our dealer territory, starting at Lands’ End to Okehampton on 3rd September and then from Okehampton to our Bristol depot in Avonmouth on 4th September. We are pleased to confirm that Mike Winton, Aaron Swanton, Will Shields and Richard Egan will be taking on the challenge and cycling to raise money for our chosen local charities. We are hoping to raise £2,000 in total to share between these local charities, more details on them can be found below.

    Charity Partners

    • “2021, lets get It done”:11year old Mirabelle Shields has set up this charity drive to raise money for “Unlocking Voices”, a charity raising support and awareness for local non-verbal autistic children. Mirabelle’s friend Sam was born non-verbal Autistic and Mirabelle continues to see the positive impact this Charity has in helping Sam “find his voice”. Mirabelle has committed to walking the length of the Cotswold Way, Cycling the whole Kennet and Avon Canal, swimming a mile, Walking the 6k Bath sky line, Running the Hawkesbury 5k and a 10k hack all by December 31st 2021. Her goal is, by doing so, she will raise money to support other families.

    • Children’s Hospice South West: The Children's Hospice South West cares for children with life-threatening conditions by providing children's hospice and professional family support services.

We are all very much aware of how challenging times have become for so many people over the last 18 months and this challenge is simply about giving something back to help local charities in our community. Our cyclist will be supporting George Bamford on his epic ride and will be covering 230 miles over the two days. We would be hugely grateful of any donations to help us reach our target and help our chosen local charities.

Thank you in advance for your help, support and donations.

Please note: All donations made on this page will be split equally between the chosen local charities.
