    Story

I am OVER THE MOON to be going to Rwanda, Africa for 4 weeks during the Summer! It has been a dream of mine from a young age and after applying to the Global Learning Partnerships Programme, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to work alongside local teachers and help support and improve their teaching and learning in Rwandan classrooms.

It will provide me with the opportunity to enhance and develop my teaching and mentoring skills, while experiencing a real life challenge of living and working in a developing country, learning more about the culture and daily life within a Rwandan community.

My role will be to up skill local teachers and educators, providing them with support to effectively deliver educational needs that have been identified. The idea being "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime", in the hope that when we leave the teachers can continue to more effectively educate pupils. It will be a reciprocal learning environment, whereby I learn from them and they learn from me!

This will provide me with an enriched education for the teaching of Global Citizenship and Learning for Sustainability, to share with pupils, staff and friends I work with in Scotland.

I have to fundraise £1250 to support my trip and they encourage the involvement of your school and community as much as possible. I also feel, as it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for myself, I could do something a bit crazy – like a BUNGEE JUMP!!

So on the 24th June at 3pm I will take the plunge – probably dressed as a giraffe and screaming!! I would be beyond grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small, to help me get closer to achieving my overall fundraising target!

Fingers crossed, I may even get a selfie with a real African ‘Jeff’ Giraffe when I’m over there too!

    Much Love and Thanks,
    Jenny  xxx
