As many of you know, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 3 years ago. It's been a downhill slide, and it hasn't finished with me yet. My right foot is now devoid of feeling, meaning I can no longer safely operate a manual car. I can't feel the pedals. I need a new car, with hand controls. Without a car, I'm literally housebound, as I can't walk further than about 100 metres and can no longer ride my bike. I have found a car for sale which will really help me. I have to get to work; I don't want to become another disabled person on benefits, but without a car this is impossible. Unfortunately, a manual car can't be converted to hand controls so I need a whole new vehicle.
I can only work part time, and have no spare cash. I'm aware that I did a fundraiser a year ago, and I'm sorry to be doing it again. I just can't face staring at these four walls for the rest of my life. I need to retain some degree of independence but without a car that I can actually drive, this is impossible.
A colleague of mine is selling his hand controlled Toyota Aygo, and I think it will be the answer to my prayers, and will enable me to retain some freedom. I desperately want to live as normal a life as I can, but it means I am becoming more and more reliant on technology.
