I'm doing a 100km challenge to raised fund for 'Little Something' a charity raising funds for perinatal mental health for Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

I suffered from post-natal depression when I had my daughter back in 2008. It was no surprised as I already being diagnosed with depression 2 year before. I didn't know what was happening to me as this felt completely different from how I felt with my depression. I just moved to Devon and 11 days later I went in to labour, she had born at 29 weeks. I only knew my midwife, which I only meet once. As everyone in my family was expecting the birth of my baby not for another 11 weeks, my mother was visiting her family. My dad was back in my home town and my sister was in the U.S. I didn't have anyone with me apart from then my husband. It made it hard for me to have a bond with my baby, which had to stay in hospital for 2 and half month. I did go to my GP with my concerns about how was feeling, but no further help was offered to me.

I would have benefit to have someone to let me know what was happening to me and to offered support to my husband, that could not understand why I was struggling with feeling toward my lovely daughter. I eventually helped myself to get better on my own and my daughter has grown healthy and very happy. I think things would have gone a different direction if I had some support. That is why this charity I'm doing this challenge for is important to me. I want other mothers, fathers and families to have the support they need in such a wonderful but difficult time.
