    Story

Hi my name is Jess and I'm 24 years old. The story below will tell you why i am doing this page. And it is so important.

On the 29th March 2017 my dreams came true i found out i was pregnant. Me and my husband had been trying for many years so when it finally happened we were overjoyed. Unforunately the joy didnt stay for very long, at my 12 week scan they found a problem with the baby's tummy. We were transferred to kings college to undergo many tests and scans. We found out the babys bowel, liver and stomach were all growing on the outside which was called an Omphalocele. We were told they had to monitor the baby weekly but it was operable as soon as the baby was born. As the weeks passed at 14 weeks we found out we were having a little girl, we were so happy and excited. we couldnt wait to tell everyone but we knew we still had a long way to go. we decided we were going to call her Isabelle which meant beauty as after all she would be beautiful to us no matter what was wrong. After multiple tests which were risks of miscarriage our little fighter was still progressing fine. At 19 weeks everything started to change, after a routine scan they gave us the devasting news that Isabelles heart was being stragged down into the abdominal area as the weight of the organs on the outside were too heavy. This was causing her to be in destress, her lungs were also covered in fluid which they couldnt explain why it was happening. we had more tests and they sent us home for 2 weeks and asked me to return at 21 weeks pregnant and hopefully there would an improvement. we returned at 21 weeks only to find out Isabelle had got alot worse and was really struggling now. she was in constant destress and we had to make a decesion. We had to decide whether to let her carry on but in a few weeks she would die inside me or to be induced and let her go now as she had no chance of survial. As any Mum or mum to be will know you never want to let go of your children. But i couldnt be selfish and make her struggle, i had to put her first. so thats what i did. I gave birth to Isabelle Anne Hales on the 28th July 2017 at 20:35 weighing 12.1oz . My beautiful little girl was at peace now.

At the hospital i was put in a side room on delivery suite. It was sound proof which was nice that i couldnt hear other people giving birth. The staff were fantastic from the midwifes to the lunch team. The berevament midwife was constantly there to make sure your ok. It is a wondeful set up for such a sad time for the families. As i was there for a couple of days i was talking to the berevament team and they explained they wanted to redecorate the room i was in as it was there only stillbirth / miscarriage berevament room and they wanted to make it more homely for the families as its very dull looking. which i thought was a lovely idea but i was shocked when she told me the trust have said they dont have funding for it. so this is why im doing this page to raise money to redecorate the Stillbirth / neonatal death bereavement delivery suite at the conquest hospital Hastings in memory of my little girl Isabelle. 👼🏼We want to make this difficult time a little easier for future families. This room gives families their last precious moments with their baby.
