Weʼre raising £500 to support Sporting Chance International and Kenya Lacrosse Association

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
For those of you who don't know, this summer Flossie Williams and Jessica Rusby will be travelling to Kenya to support and work with the charities: Sporting Chance International and Kenya Lacrosse Association.
Over the years, Godolphin School has raised in excess of £35,000 for Sporting Chance International and as we are highly passionate about sports, lacrosse especially, these charities are both ones we hold close to our hearts. We both believe very strongly that it is our responsibility to help others less fortunate than ourselves, who do not have access to the luxuries we take for granted and help to improve the lives for many Kenyans through sports.
Throughout these next 3/4 months we will be taking part in many charity events in order to raise money for the cause. As part of fundraising for the trip we will be collecting sports bras and sports kit (incl. shoes, shorts, tops). For those of you who want to donate give to either Flossie, Jess or we will leave a collection bin in the changing room under the swimming pool at godolphin.
Whilst we are there, we will be working with children in schools, introducing lacrosse and raising awareness for the game. We will also be working on community projects such as painting and building in orphanages and helping at feeding centres.
Towards the end of our trip we will be coaching the U19 National Team, as one of our goals is to get Kenya to the U19 World Championships in 2019, as the first female African Team. If this is achieved, the sport can be put forward for Olympics with our eyes on LA 2028. However, Kenya Lacrosse face some unique challenges. Many of the athletes are orphans or from hugely disadvantaged backgrounds whereby bringing water and lunch to training is not an option. Owning a pair of shoes or sports bra is something they can only dream of. So finding £1 to travel to squad weekends is definitely not an option. KLA therefore have to fund all of the above, not to mention sticks, kit and equipment and the rest that goes with playing international sport. Representing your country in a minority sport is one thing, but if you’re one of the Kenyan athletes it’s almost impossible….
We would be so grateful if you could sponsor us as your donations will impact the individuals lives greatly. Every £1 really does help so something as easy as forgoing a Starbucks and donating that £3.50, would feed and water 3 athletes for a weekend. It really is that simple.
