Weʼre raising £1,800 to my Bali Mental Health Placement Mental Health experience & training, helping communities on their Mental health journey.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

Initially I planned to travel to Sri Lanka Summer 2019 with SLV Global, providing me with practical psychology work experience and training in the mental health sector, helping children and adults on their mental health journey. In light of the recent acts of terrorism, I am having to postpone my trip until 2020.
UPDATE!! After reviewing my options, I have decided to move my SLV Global volunteering placement to Bali, July 2020, which is also country much in need of help and support surrounding mental health.
Over 40 hours of hands-on experience is provided during the programme, including, training and educational discussions, a field trip with a mental health professional, an intensely immersive cross-cultural experience, and an education in global mental health. From one of the primary psychiatric hospitals in Indonesia to government run schools for children with specific needs and community initiatives for elderly residents, I'll be working with a wide range of individuals from all backgrounds, ages and abilities. With few psychologists in residence, the community often gathers and aims to provide some relief for the families in need, however the lack of formally qualified mental health professionals is apparent.
The aim of SLV Global is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and to boost resources in the communities where we work. Working with local professionals, I will be part of a team helping to provide service users with much-needed stimulation and human contact to improve overall well-being and increase self-esteem.
To be able to take part in such an incredible opportunity I need to raise this money to attain my goal, that will not only further my education, but open my career prospects in the future. This programme has found a lasting, positive impact on mental health within local communities and it would be wonderful if I could to be a part of this amazing experience.
All donations are very much appreciated! Thank you.
