Weʼve raised £1,170 to help Jay & his amazing family with the cost of adapting their home, after he suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralysed.

Funded on Tuesday, 25th June 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

    100m.

    0.1km.

    Just over 328 6ft men.

    Pretty high right?

For one time only, on 26th May 2019 (first attempt of 27th April was cancelled due to Storm Hannah!), I will be abseiling down the 100m tall Spinnaker Tower with the help of a (hopefully very strong) harness, for a cause really close to my heart.

My best friend, bridesmaid and general all-round good egg sent me a text in October which shook me to the core. Jay, Emma's husband, had been in a serious accident whereby he had just undergone six hours of intensive surgery after an accident which we now know has changed their lives as they once knew it; Jay is paralysed from the waist down.

Never one to sit back and let something as 'minor' as this stop him - just four short months after the accident, two different hospitals and a stay at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville, Jay has just returned home to Emma and their one year old son Dexter.

Unfortunately the house they own is not quite suitable and needs some adjustments to help everyday living a lot more manageable, for which the family are crowdfunding and fundraising for... .and which I'm helping to boost the target with this challenge!

I am looking to help them reach their main target by doing something that is way out of my comfort zone, and quite frankly makes my stomach want to drop out of my backside - there is noone else I would do this for!

Your donations will not only stop me from backing out of this, but can also provide:

    Physio Sessions - £50
    Portable Ramp - £120
Removal of step into the flat - £500
Adding sliding doors to wardrobe - £500
Widening of 3 doors at home - £1,500
Adjustable rise and fall kitchen worktop - £2,000
    Wet room - £5,000
    Lightweight wheel chair - £5,500

    Thank you x

So today's abseil was postponed due to this weather (bloody Hannah!), after initially being disappointed due to psyching myself up all week - when I saw the amount of tree branches in the garden I realised it was probably for the best... or I'd have been like a harnessed windmill 100m up!! New date is Sunday 26th May at 2pm.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I started out with a £500 target thinking I may be able to achieve half of it...if I was lucky. I soon got to £500 thanks to you generous lot - Craig, Kat and Bethany have just very kindly got me to my new target of £750 so I've decided to aim a bit higher and up my target and push myself that bit further. The generosity of you guys is helping (very slightly) to quash the butterflies in my stomach for Saturdays challenge! xxx

Wow! THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has already donated to my fundraiser - and those who have pledged to donate offline too. I'm so pleased that the target is now within sight, I'm hoping we can smash this! For those locally, I am currently organising a quiz night charity fundraiser on 7th April in Chandlers Ford. Be good to see you x More info here: https://innovatecreative.co.uk/jess-john-quiz-night/
