    Story

Jimmy C, my husband, lost a 2 year battle with cancer 30/5/21 (Cholangiocarcinoma - Bile Duct Cancer - for more info visit AMMF ) He has been a great artist - guitarist, singer, song writer and band leader (Jimmy C & The Bluesdragons - Bluesdragons website ) for over 45 years, bringing fun and joy to people locally and all around the world, always with a big smile. Based in Crouch End for over 15 years, he has played all of the local venues and was always open to support other musicians and always giving his 200% into each performance, he was proud to be one of the locals and support local community. He kept playing until nearly last day fully aware of his condition - Jimmy's last recorded song Everybody Gets The Blues (click to listen) is available on youtube - please listen in his memory and share around if you like it.

We are fundraising at the moment to bring Jimmy's Blues to the public by organizing free events in his name - 7/11/21 and 12/12/21 Jimmy's Blues Jam in Haringey Arms, before 17/10/21 Tribute in Broadstairs Wrotham Arms!

The original purpose of the fundraiser was to fund a bench and a tree in Jimmy's name at St Mary's Tower N8 (church grounds) - we got the full amount of £1500 and a bit more, we got the plaque ready and the only thing is to wait for both Council and Church to sign the paperwork/ deliver the bench.

The secondary purpose of the fundraiser was initiating a rehearsal/ recording space in JImmy's name for young people to have somewhere to meet and play music, as loud and as much and as often as they want with hopefully some local musicians supporting them with help and advice. It's ongoing project, we'll have some workshops (vocal and drums) on New Years Eve to 'test the waters'.

Separately we're always collecting for AMMF by adding their logo and fundraising details to all our posters.

The bench and tree are going to be ideal for people to sit and enjoy the many live gigs at the Tower while remembering him at the same time. St Mary's Tower is the same location where Jimmy played Blues Picnics during the Covid-19 keeping the live music alive in a safe environment which became very popular locally and all around the world as we kept streaming them online. He also wrote a song Jacob Walker about the Slave/ Servant buried in the Church Grounds at St Mary's which is going to be recorded and played at his Tribute on 14/8. The Tribute Picnic in memory of Jimmy C is organised by myself, Paul Soper and Todd Sharpvile (MD) and will involve all available Blues Dragons and Friends/ Guests singing Jimmy's songs. Please come if you can - start 3pm.

The idea of opening a local rehearsal space/ maybe a small studio in Jimmy's name is an additional project and would support the local community by offering a safe space for young people to rehearse and record. I am planning to donate part of Jimmy's equipment and fund some additional elements to make it happen. Details to follow as I've only started exploring the process - starting with the workshops on NYE.

Organizing Blues Events in JImmy's name as something 'regular' is a new idea which i'm working on as I've realized how much fun people have during our 'picnics' - because I really want to be delivering all the events for free i'm very grateful for any donations which help us to print the marketing materials move around and cover the cost of the band. It definitely is another/ new way to keep Jimmy's memory alive - have a Blues Jam in Jimmy's name to get people together and play his songs.

As Jimmy said (and Greeks are saying): "We live to remember"! Please share the fundraiser, come to the Tribute, and if you can - donate as well if you can. Thank you xxx

Dear All! I'm going to have the plaques for the bench next week. The Tree will be planted in November. Bench is going to be paid next week. I've decided to pay full price of the new bench but use one of the existing due to two reasons: view (I want it to be possible to see the Tower!) and timing (the new bench proposed in the empty alley will take another 3-4 months to agree or more!). Balance of the money is going to stay in 'Jimmy's fund' for new projects including youth workshops, Jimmy's Bluesjams (12/09/21) and future rehearsal space.

Dear All, we got an article in Ham&High! it makes me very happy as it helps keeping Jimmy's name remembered :-) Together with the tree and the bench I want to keep 'Jimmy's picnics' ongoing as I think they are a wonderful form of bringing people together to have fun and listen to good music all in Jimmy's memory. Thank you as you all are part of the 'Jimmy's team' and I would not be able to do it all without you - and below the link: https://www.hamhigh.co.uk/news/tribute-concert-jimmy-c-blues-musician-8243110 Lots of love from me x Aga
