Weʼve raised £1,240 to help raise vital funds for Animal Angels Global, the charity that gave us Lemmy, by walking 50km non stop

Funded on Monday, 24th July 2017

    Story

A good friend of mine asked me if I fancied taking part in Race to the Stones, day 2. This involves walking 50km across the Ridgeway, hiking up and down, in the blazing July heat. In one go.
Sure. I'll be up for that. Then I drove 50km. That's quite far. That's really, really quite far. Oh dear. My hips are also still recovering from my last pregnancy, so another challenge!

Next comes who I wish to raise some much needed funds for. There is only one option for me, and that is a charity very close to my heart. Through Animal Angels Global, our family has recently adopted the most gorgeous podenco cross boy, you could ever imagine. Our beautiful Lemmy. He has given us all, and most importantly, one of our daughters, a new lease of life. After the heart ache of loosing our son, my husband has a mate, and our daughter has her security.
Through this amazing charity, this has become possible.
AAG work with a few shelters in Spain to care for abandoned, abused and neglected animals that would otherwise be killed. They are so underfunded that they all spend out of their own pockets, as and when needed. The shelters heavily rely on volunteers and donations ranging from financial to collars etc.
I have been very lucky to have been introduced to 3 of the wonderful women who help to keep AAG going and to find forever homes for many, many animals.
There is not enough space for me to write about the amount of dedication and love that they give. They deal with so much heartbreak and the work that they do is absolutely fantastic and selfless.
But with so many animals, they always need funds for food, medication, operations etc etc. The list is never ending.

Please, please consider donating for this fantastic cause (I will link this so it goes direct to them).

Please don't think I won't be grateful for any amount, you give, no matter how small. It all adds up. Please donate and help and support me doing this absolutely crazy walk.

    So much love.
    Jo and Lemmy

With my daughter, by my side, I crossed the finish line. 14 hours and 50km later. I am broken. Thank you, so much, for each and every penny donated. As I have said countless times, every last one will go to the animals and this means you are helping hundreds. That's immense. I am so proud to do this for Animal Angels Global, who are quite possibly the most nobel women I have ever come across. Thank you for your donations as they are what makes this. Thank you. Jo, Lemmy and Rocco xx

Thank you, so much to all that have donated. We have raised the target to give it one final boost, with 4 days to go. 2 weeks ago, we adopted Lemmy's best friend, Rocco. Since then, we have become even more aware of the work this wonderful organisation does. Rocco has an illness, that can be managed, but again thanks to AAG, him and many more pups get this extra help that they would not have. I simply can not stress that every last penny you have raised will be spent on the animals. Such an important thing to state.

Thank you all, so much, for helping me to crack the first target. Today I walked half the distance, training. It's really tough going. But this will all be so worth it. Lemmy has absolutely changed my family's life and to know we can help countless amounts of animals that have no one to love them, in their own homes? Well, it's the right thing to do. These animals deserve a good life, as do our own pets. Your money will go to their food, shelter, medication and anything else they may need. Every single last penny goes to them. Fact
