You all know how I love animals and one of the causes close to my heart is Kitties of Kefalos, a charity run by British couple, Kelvin and Michaela Whaley who live on Kos and have dedicated their lives to supporting the sick and injured cats and kittens of the island. The Rescue is actually their home itself and visiting it was heart-warming, seeing cats lazing in the sun: some with one eye, cataracts, 3 legs, limping and one, little Dorothy, is even blind! Yet each of these babies is now happy and living a pain-free and comfortable life thanks to having been rescued and cared for by Michaela and Kelvin.

Whilst animals are mistreated everywhere, Kelvin and Michaela have a greater battle on their hands as being based on a small island (pop.20,000) they have limited resources and ways to fund the Rescue. They don't have a charity shop or other means to generate funds so rely entirely on public donations. Kelvin even works a night shift in the Summer months to support their feline wards, which currently exceed 70!

A few weeks back they had devastating news, their landlord decided he wants to move back into his house so they had to find a new home, with 70+ cats! Fortunately, a Greek lady from the village came to their rescue and offered a property on farm land but what is needed now is a shelter for the cats to keep them warm from the Winter elements. Also, a 4x4 to access the land in the bad weather (yes, they still have it in Greece too!) We are fighting the clock to raise these funds to get the shelter in place as moving day is fast approaching, along with Winter.

I'd be there helping with the big move but holidays don't permit so I want to at least help raise the funds. So many of you were so generous when I went to Ghana, so this year i'm appealing for your generosity again. Whilst I can't be there for the build, I can promise I can share pictures of where your money has gone when I return to Kos in 2017. Thank you from the bottom of my heart xxx
