    Story

As you all may know i moved on from my career in zoo keeping in December last year to become a staff member at the Center for animal rehabilitation and education ( C.A.R.E) in the Limpopo province of south africa- the centre specialises in the Chacma baboon- rescuing these primates and facililating in specialised rehabilitation until they can be candidates for release.

please take a look at the website for awesome volunteer opportunitues and information.

    www.primatecare.co.za

I have and will be focusing on our phase 1area- this phase is primarily for orphan baboons that have been brought to the centre or rescued by our staff members. Phase 1 involves all aspects of husbandry, infant care and the planning for phase 2 of the baboons rehabilitation process.

Coupled with past funding and a great volunteer program means we can now focus on the regular maintenance upkeep and husbandry for all troop baboons that await release, This involves daily cleans of enclosures and providing natural enrichment.

But being a non profit organisation and relying solely on charitable donations means a relatively inconsistent supply of materials coming through to make this a regular option.

My goal is to help by financing some basic materials and supplies such as:
    - Hay bales ( R70- Equates to just ovr £4.30)
    - Dry feed ( for scatter) 10kg bag of mixed seed R75- equates to £4.50
    - Materials to build platforms. swings and hammocks- varying costs- planks- R200 -£12.00, chain- R150- per mtr

A little goes a long way here for the Baboons- they absolutley love the hay given and scatter feeds are the perfect enrichment to keep them busy.

So if you fancy helping the Baboons of south Africa then please donate what you can afford! I would be super happy too!
