This March I will be flying out to India to volunteer at a project in Kerala, working to empower the beautiful women living there. Many women in India are seen as second class citizens and simply don't have the free will that we enjoy in the UK. They don't have 'luxury' items such as sanitary towels, instead washing and using rags each month.

I'm going to gain a better understanding of their daily life and also offer any support I can in the hope that I empower these ladies to stand up and be counted. As a proud Brownies Leader, empowering young girls in my unit, I want to share that in Kerala at the project and hear the ladies stories and bring that home to raise awareness. The £500 will help towards my living arrangements once there and the purchase of sanitary products.
