Wurly was a rescue pup from the RSPCA. He was the runt of the litter and not expected to survive. A volunteer nurtured and cared for him keeping him alive in those early days, but all too soon he had to return to the kennels at the RSPCA. He was shy and timid, while the other pups clamoured for attention he lay on his own tentatively looking for a family. We met him soon after this and knew at once, he was meant for us. The RSPCA weren't so sure. 'He's too timid, too scared for a family with children, he will need a lot of patience and care'. We couldn't leave him behind, so mind made up we returned to collect him, only to be told there was a life threatening contagious disease sweeping the kennels. We could not bring him home! Wurly survived again and became the love of our lives, the joy that made our family complete. He was scared of his own shadow, getting him to do normal things, like walk down stairs, pass a stranger or get in the car took months of patient training. He is still nervous of the unknown but he is also loving, intuitive and intelligent. Everyone that meets him falls in love, we never go out without someone stopping us to comment on how wonderful he is. One week ago they found a growth in his intestine, they wanted to euthanize! We asked for a referral to oncology, where we were given a glimmer of hope. He has a rare form of lymphoma but with Chemotherapy the growth could be reduced. He is otherwise happy and healthy and this treatment could give him a good quality of life. He is a very special dog who saved our family when we needed him most, he touches the lives of all those who meet him. Please help us give him another chance.
