    Story

IFB stands for International Friends Bureau. IFB Gaming is a "bridge" social organisation focused on the intersection of play and lifelong learning and social inclusion.

A community-driven charity that helps socially excluded people and local charities improve through digital. IFB Gaming takes genesis from 2x longitudinal video games study and we're the first game-based community learning organisation in England. We pilot out of Southwark, and nationally disseminate knowledge and experiences through thought-leadership and strategic partnerships.

At IFB Gaming, we help (vulnerable) locals with digital literacy, loneliness and isolation and English for non-native speakers, and aid community organisations with the design and delivery of social inclusion strategies.

So far, we've helped 2.5 million people in the UK gain basic digital skills or transform their hands-on passion through sports, working closely with a network of charities brought together by Good Things Foundation.

I need your support to raise £1000 so IFB Gaming:

    1. continues its important work in the community and

    2. contributions to wider spectrum continue to be timely, practical and actionable

    3. build on a summer of sports by introducing new events such as winter sports and playing musical instruments

Why we now need your help

    1. Reconciliation and trust

It was a vibrant, radiant and fun-filled summer in London, however, London gangs had ideas of theirs. Statistically, London's homicide is currently toe-to-toe with New York's and Vegas.

In our sector, Brandon, a series of homicides have rocked Brandon this year - including the death of seventeen-year-old Rhyhiem Barton, and his friend 23-year-old Sidique Kamara who was stabbed to death on the same road, Warham Street, where Rhyhiem was found.

The sudden manifestation of drug and gang related violence has highlighted and magnified certain divisions within the community. There's a heightened sense of mistrust among adults while some young-people remain traumatised, feeling: open; and vulnerable; and upset.

As part of an ongoing national initiative, IFB Gaming formalise the presence and activities and achievements of online network centres in Southwark presentable, accessible and enjoyable via one digital umbrella - connected to, and themed, around the local library - for longevity, continuity, sustainability and possibly new social capital.

    2. Digital and learning divide

Due to rapid rate of science and technology innovation, coupled with London's new and booming technology industry - there is a holistic focus on digital.

Research has shown that more and more services are moving to digital platforms to save money but the digital literacy needed to use these services is not keeping pace (For example: Universal Credit).

According CDI report cited in the Cebr report, those without digital skills are likely to be the most vulnerable and excluded. 11.3 million adults in the UK still lack the essential digital skills that are necessary for life and work. And in just ten years almost: 7 million adults in the UK; 12% of the adult population; will be left behind as a result of digital exclusion. At IFB Gaming, we aim to ensure that Southwark locals do not fall under the 12% at risk of being left behind.

How the funds will be used

    1. Unite local charities and community organisations under one digital umbrella

    2. Improve access to information and funding for locals and community organisations

    3. Diversify and support local offerings with new music and games-based courses

    4. Travel, and the logistics for new mobile-tutoring

    5. Launch IFB's social prescription platform

    Beneficiaries

    Local Benefit

We have a responsibility to the social welfare and security of young-people in our borough where the violence hit hard during 2018 summer. Our presence is revigorative, we are fun, we are different, and there's lots of sports and collaboration and competition involved, both offline and online.

IFB Gaming operates in the blurs between reality and Virtual reality and this is where sports and gaming become an inextricable partner and abstract for optimal efficiency and outputs. To achieve purpose, IFB Gaming creatively blends traditional and contemporary techniques with game-based abstracts for sophisticated and futuristic marketing, learning and community engagement solutions.

We aim to build on the summers achievements by introducing new Winter sports and uniting charities and online centre networks to collaborate and share for sustainable developments. IFB Gaming is also designed with the communities local library (Brandon Estate) at core.

    National Benefit

According to research by Good Things Foundation, providing everyone in the UK with the essential digital skills they need by 2028 will lead to a benefit of £15 for every £1 invested, and a net present value of £21.9 billion.

IFB Gaming will make significant contributions to national aims and goals through a community-focus on Southwark and Knowledge transfer through UK's Online Centres Network, lawmakers and British academics.

It's because of the passion, conviction and generosity of people like you that IFB Gaming became a reality. With your kindness and generosity and continued support we will make London not only one of the safest city in the world, but also a top contender for gaming capital of the world.

Thank you so much for taking the time to preview our case.
