Story
The Gani’s believe in the importance and impact of the family to shape a life. Coming from a background of their own addictions and family dysfunction while growing up, Johnny, Heather along with their adventurous 8 year old son, want to share their compassion and recovery through faith, skills and experience with family's torn apart by recent events in the middle east.
Johnny is trained in psychotherapeutic counselling skills, presently works with homeless and people addicted to drugs and alcohol. Also a plasterer for many years, now combines these skills to work in a workshop environment, for St Mungo’s, a homeless charity in London. Johnny teach's the guys a trade and supports them around their recovery, using some of the therapeutic techniques he is qualified in.
Heather is a trained art psychotherapist/artist and presently works with Nepalese women, who are the wives of Gurkha soldiers. She also has extensive experience working with trauma, addiction, mental health and profound complex needs, both with children, adolescents and adults. She has witnessed the transformative capacity, in how it has impacted peoples lives.
We will be travelling with the well-established organization YWAM (Youth With A Mission) who provide support to some of the world’s most vulnerable and traumatized people. We will be part of an international team, with whom we will receive teaching, training and preparation for an intense cross cultural outreach, a combination of serving practically and through acts of compassion.
Through our own personal endeavours we have managed to raise over £6000 but need that little extra help to get us the rest of the way. this extra money will enable us to pay for flights, accommodation and food while we are on refugee camp in Greece, as mentioned we have already raised our training cost for the first half.
We very much appreciate you taking the time to read our page.
Thank you
