Story
Over the past few years Sheffield Boxing Centre has raised £43,020 for Ella & Ben, both patients at Sheffield Children's Hospital. As a 3 year old, Ella was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour & given given 2 months to live. Since then she has endured intensive courses of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a bid to halt the cancer. Against the odds she is now 13 years old & remains a happy little girl. Ben was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer after his mum noticed pains in his leg meant that he was unable to play his beloved football. Sadly, in 2012 he underwent surgery to remove his leg. Despite this, he has boxed on many Charity Boxing Shows & is an inspiration to everyone who meets him.
In July 2018 we hope to have raised enough money to take our young amateur boxers to California's State Championships. For these boys it will be a once in a lifetime experience. Every penny raised will be prudently spent on these youngsters who have dedicated their lives to the sport they love. This means that they live the boxer's life of early morning runs, relentless training & sticking to SBC's strict moral code of
- no smoking, no drinking, no drugs. Be confident enough to say no
- no rudeness. Be polite & helpful.
- no slacking. Be your best at school, in the gym or at work
On 12 November I am running in the Athens Marathon. It would be
great if we could raise £300 which will be split 50/50 to go towards the Children's Hospital & SBC's Amateur Boxer's USA Trip. Because I'm paying all my own expenses, everything raised will go straight to both causes . So please dig deep and donate now.
