Story
On August 19th John is going to attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales all within 24 hours.
Each mountain will take 5 hours to climb and descend and there will be a driving time of 9 hours in-between the climbs.
John is 67 years old and has been training hard for many months in an attempt to complete this challenge. He is hoping to raise money for the local preschool, First Step, who are in dire need of funds to help them complete their preschool building. Please read their story here in the local gazette;

First Step are a charity run preschool that have served the community of Thornbury for many years. Many of the local children, including John's granddaughters, have had the benefit of their care. We are hoping that the local community and anybody with a connection to First Step will get behind John and the preschool and give whatever they can to help ensure that the new building is a success.
The three peaks John will be climbing are:
Ben Nevis / Beinn Nibheis (1,344 m or 4,409 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland
Scafell Pike (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England
Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales
The total distance walked is estimated at 27 miles, with a total ascent of 9,800 feet (3,000 m).
Thanks for your help and support.
