This July my daughter and I will be flying to South Africa as part of a team of volunteers from my church. We will be working with a local organisation called Isithembiso to run a camp for children from a township called Masiphumelele.

My funding for the trip is complete but I would really like to cover the cost of sending 8 kids on camp this year. It costs about £70 per child and makes a massive difference to these kids lives.

Masiphumelele is home to thousands of children many of whom are without one or both parents and are left to fend for themselves or take charge of their family. These kid don't really get to enjoy their childhoods. Those aged between 5 and 18 on the Isithembiso 'Children of Promise' program have the opportunity to go on a 4 day camp where they enjoy decent food, clean water, showers and a dry, comfy bed. For many of the kids there it will be their only chance to enjoy these luxuries all year. The camp is vibrant, full of fun, and activity that create the space to be known, loved and cared for. These camps are hugely influential in the children's' lives and remembered for years to come.
