I've signed up to ride the Prudential RideLondon cycle ride (46) on July 30th.

Despite cycling around Cambridge whilst at university, I've largely ignored the wheels of steel for the intervening time and have ridden very little indeed for at least 10 years now, <1-2 miles per month at best, many times nothing at all!

This is a challenge for me having never ridden >20 miles in one go even back during university days...

Whilst hearing of the activities and the need in Sri Lanka, I felt it was time to try and help with raising money for them and hopefully I might get a bit fitter in the process,

I am helping the local community in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

The Elim Church family in Wimbledon, that my wife and I are part of, have been visiting Jaffna regularly and are helping with the creation of a new church building for the local community there.
Currently the building is in need of toilet facilities and any of your sponsorship will fund this or will help one, or even more than one(!), local family with the purchase of chickens and other small livestock and farming items to help them begin to be self-sustaining farmers.

It turns out - after I'd signed up for the bike ride - that cycling is one of the most common forms of transport in Sri Lanka and therefore its more appropriate than i realised to do the challenge i have set myself.

Your help would really spur me on to the cycling finish-line and also be a practical help to those in the community in Jaffna.
