    Story

Hi my name is Joseph Milloy, Last year I applied through my scout group to attend the 24th World Jamboree. The World Scout Jamboree is a Scouting jamboree of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, typically attended by several tens of thousands of Scouts from around the world, and aged 14 to 17. Part of my journey was getting a place was to first fill in an application form which was then considered by the organisers. I was then chosen to attend an event weekend and compete against another 100 applicants within my region. Part of my interview process I had to present my skills and qualities as well as why I should be a chosen candidate.

Through our experience will be meeting other scouts from around the world, learning about there cultures and also about us teaching them the Scottish way!! This trip we are embarking on does come at a cost which also supports other scouts from less fortunate countries around the world to attend.

To enable me to attend I have been tasked with organising fundraising to support the cost of the trip, so far since last year I had a stall selling Xmas gifts at a variety of local events, a Race Night and selling football cards. I wanted to set myself a personal challenge and have recently been training hard with swimming indoors and out in preparation for my next challenge. My aim in early August will be to swim from Goat Island to the pontoons in Craighouse.

This opportunity is a one in a life time chance for me and I aim to represent not only Scotland but also Jura in my journey. I am proud that I will support others on their adventure and also hope to grow and learn as an individual. I am delighted at gaining this opportunity and can assure all sponsors I will do Scotland Proud. On my return I will write and update on my travels and experiences, thank you in advance, Joseph Mack Milloy

Good luck with your fundraising and enjoy the jamboree. I went to the Jamboree in Thailand in 2003 so when I saw your posters on Jura I thought I should donate.
