    Story

I have just returned from my second trip to Ghana and it is my mission to provide these kind and humble people with a vital and clean resource that will benefit them for many years to come....a water bore hole as seen in the photo below:

I visited this remote village and cocoa farm known to my great friend and interpreter, Bernard. He has worked on this farm in the past and his elderly father still makes the trek by foot from Nkawkaw everyday to work which is why this is close to my heart. To reach it involves a 25 minute walk down a dirt track and it is literally in the middle of nowhere. On this occasion, my mission was to distribute all the donated items that I had taken with me and to talk to the Chief about how best to use the funds that had been raised. I received a very warm and gracious welcome from all. It was an absolute pleasure to give them new clothes, toiletries and first aid items not to mention their first taste of chocolate - the result of their hard labour! I was also able to provide a years health insurance for the whole community - 120 in total. They were over-whelmed that someone would want to do this for them as they had never received any help in the past.

On further discussion, it transpired that their only source of water was a 'dirty' stream and that the greatest gift they could ever receive would be a bore hole providing safe, clean water for all. Having seen this stream for myself, I cannot believe in this day and age that people are still having to drink filthy water, with goodness knows what in it, in order to live. Would you drink it?!! Everyday, I appreciate that I have access to clean water just by turning on a tap and how we all take clean water for granted.

It was at this point I realised that I could do something about this on my return to the UK and so, prior to leaving, I obtained a quote from a local drilling company in Nkawkaw.

So this is my crowd-funding page and together we can give these people two very precious gifts...water and life. Something that will benefit them and future generations in years to come by preventing disease and ultimately death. Would you have it your heart to help me realise my vision for them. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Just a kind and gentle soul that wants to make a difference in this world. Over the years, I have helped many charities with fund-raising. I have been to Ghana twice this year, the first time as a volunteer. I love Ghana and the Ghanaian people and I would like to help them.
