My name is Juliana Tarpey and my story is simple. I wanted to help those who are living in poor conditions among the refugee camps in Bulgaria and Greece. Most of these people have traveled long and treacherous distances mainly by sea and have witnessed some harrowing things on their painful journeys. We have all seen the news enough times to know that many are now stuck in camps in Bulgaria and Greece whilst the EU countries debate on their future. However they need our help, the weather is turning cold and many men, women and children don't even have the basic supplies to survive the Winter months.
So I booked a plane ticket and enough baggage allowance as the airline would let me, 150 kilos worth of donated sleeping bags, tents, outdoor clothes and children's toys.
The camps are dotted around Bulgaria and the Northern Greek coast, Polikastro and Axioupoli town to be precise.
My plan is to give the supplies to those who need it most and if this trip proves successful then I plan to do more.
I will keep you all updated on my travels throughout the trip.
