    Story

In July 2016 Steve White was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour. The condition is called Glioblastoma (GBM) and is often referred to as “The Terminator”, due to its aggressive nature and resistance to current NHS medical treatment. The median survival rate is between six to 18 months from initial diagnosis.

Steve has undergone surgery to remove 95% of the tumour and is now undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy but unfortunately this type of tumour always recurs. The treatments available on the NHS are limited and are often unsuccessful but Steve is staying positive. There are alternative treatments available under private health care but are expensive.

    Steve's wife's update:
"In the beginning of Jan '17 we had appointments with the neurosurgeon and the oncologist. We decided to ask if the histology report from the operation showed if the tumour was likely to respond to Chemotherapy, unfortunately the response was that Stephen has IDH1 Wild Type and that it is most unlikely to respond to Chemo. Once again, devastation!!

So the path of Immunotherapy is beginning earlier than we had planned but we are so glad that there are other options for us to research.

Stephen is a proud Trustee for The Steve Prescott Foundation - ironically a charity that supports a number of cancer related organisations. Over the last 10 years Stephen has took part in many gruelling physical challenges to raise funds for The Steve Prescott Foundation."

Any surplus funds will be donated by Steve's family to various cancer related charities including The Walton Centre, The Clatterbridge Centre and The Brain Tumour Charity which remains hugely underfunded.

Please give anything you can spare to help fund the treatment Steve so desperately needs. He has helped with the SPF for so many years - lets give a little back to get him through his battle.

In September 2015 I started the couch to 5k to get fitter. I took part in the 2016 St Helens 10k completing it in 1 hr 6 mins & also the Grind 2016 for the Isabella Rose Foundation. I went to school with Steve & was shocked & saddened to learn of his illness & wanted to help.
