The Palestinian and Syrian Refugee crises are both issues which have been close to my heart for a very long time. They have received biased media coverage since 1948 and 2011 respectively, and to this day have still not been fully resolved.

After the Palestine War of 1948, there were roughly 750,000 native refugees. Today, that number has risen to 5 Million, displaced both within their own country and refugee camps in neighbouring countries. Similarly in Syria, the ongoing civil war has lead to the displacement of 13.5 Million natives, 4.5 Million of whom are still trapped within hard-to-reach and besieged areas in the country which was once their home. (UN Refugee Agency Official Statistics)

As a student at the University of Manchester and a member of it's Islamic Society, I have been given the opportunity to make a small difference. On the 25th of November I will be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise funds for the Global Rahmah Foundation, an internationally verified charity which helps those affected by war, natural disaster and poverty. The aim of this sponsored climb, as well as other fundraising events taking place throughout the year, is to raise money for their refugee camps in Syria and Lebanon, providing much needed medical care, winter clothing and basic education for children as young as 5, who have not been given the same opportunities as anyone who was lucky enough to grow up in a country not ravaged by conflict.

Please give as much as you can, every little really does help! It doesn't matter if all you donate is good vibes.
