Burkina Faso is a nation where women have little say in their communities and homes. Kabeela aims to empower women through income generating activities, and focuses on raising awareness on women’s rights and health. This all helps Kabeela fight against poverty at a communal level.

Guilongou is a community where water is sparse. A well would ensure sustainable access to water for Kabeela’s morenga trees. Morenga is a highly nutritional plant that is extremely beneficial in combatting malnutrition. Kabeela women are then also able to produce morenga-based products which they can sell to generate income.

Income generating activities are paramount to Kabeela’s success. The mill will provide a new source of income which is both sustainable and invaluable to the women’s personal and community development. Not only will the women learn new skills by making different grains of flour, the community will benefit from a local mill, as currently the closest is 5 km away.
