Story
Cricket has been successfully used as a tool for bringing people of different backgrounds, cultures and religions together. For the first time, Insaan Culture Club will apply cricket and arts in the context of developing community relations and understanding of the South Asian peace efforts amongst the diaspora.
'Batting for peace' is a project that aims to promote peace amongst neighbouring south asian communities globally, using cricket and the arts as a tool to collaborate towards building understanding and celebrating similarities
This game of cricket mixed with arts, music and some delicious South Asian food is a perfect recipe for celebrating togetherness and teamwork, with which we can beat the demons of distrust, hatred and conflict.
During the friendly matches, there will be comedians, artists, actors and sports personalities commentating on the games. A DJ will play music from all nations celebrating cultural diversity. Children will be entertained by professional entertainers, dancers and the ever faithful bouncy castle. We will collaborate with professional cricketers, pro peace volunteers and artists to play within the community teams regardless of heritage, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or political leanings. The day will conclude with a music concert.
I aim to raise funds to cover the cost of this event with your help. Please donate what ever little you can, so that together we can have a fun filled day with some long lasting memories.
