*Trip postponed from 06/09/2021 to 24/03/2022*

On 24th March 2022 I will be flying off to Nepal for 15 days to take part in a trek through the majestic Himalayan peaks, all the way to Everest Base Camp (5,364 metres above sea level). Cannot even put my excitement into words!

In order to take part in the trek I must raise £2600 which will go towards my charity of choice. Many of you already know that I have been involved with fundraising for charities for a few years, however this my biggest challenge yet (trek and the fundraising goal) especially during a global pandemic. All support will be greatly appreciated, whether that’s simply sharing this page with others or donating money, I will be eternally grateful.

The charity I have chosen is SheRose.

Their primary aim is to eradicate child marriages. 1 in 2 girls in Malawi are forced into child marriages before their 18th birthday, to men much older than them. They are forced to leave school and take care of their families. This perpetuates education barriers and sexual inequality. Above all else it continues the cycle of poverty.

Their vision is to see communities where girls and women are not subjected to child marriages or gender-based discrimination; but are valued, empowered and afforded equal rights in all areas of their lives.

I hold SheRose very close to my heart and I feel they need all the financial help they can get especially as research indicates that the pandemic will dramatically increase the rate of child marriage, making this a crucial time for us to provide interventions to minimise the detrimental impacts. It is anticipated that an additional 4 million girls will be vulnerable to enforced child marriage within the next two years, with the U.N forecasting this figure to reach an extra 13 million by the end of the decade as a result of COVID19.

In total, SheRose will receive AT LEAST £1,210 from this fundraiser. How will this money be used? Here are some options to put it into perspective:

- 40 girls to attend day secondary school for an entire year .

- 8 girls to attend boarding secondary school for an entire year (including accommodation) .

- If this money is to be spent on workshops, we would be able to run 5 workshops, with 150 girls attending each workshop (the impact of which would be 750 girls).

Any donations, no matter how small, will make a huge difference!
