Story
Last weekend, I completed the 26 mile Northumberland Coastal Challenge, which was incredibly hard and, upon reflection, I should have done it for charity. This morning, I received this Facebook post from a friend in Kenya. It touched my heart and I knew this is someone I really want to help. If everyone in my Facebook friends list can spare a we could help this little girl go to school and potentially change her life . . .
Written by Margaret Ikiata, Meru County, Kenya
Yesterday as I was going back from the field, I passed a young girl Stella who is in form 2 in a local day secondary school. Stella was with her mother and they had a goat. I stopped to ask them where they were coming from as I knew their home. They told me that they were coming from the Market to sell the goat for Stella to go back to school, The goat was not bought because the people who wished to buy offered a very low price. Stella and her mother were tied. THey had walked for 8 km in the morning to go to market and now they remained with 5 km to reach home. I gave them a ride home. Stell was so down because there is no hope to go back to school. Her mother looks tired and she is sick, Stella lost her father in 2010 . This is a story which left my eyes wet as i could imagine what this girl stella was feeling and he desperation of her mother. Stella needs USD 445 to be in a boarding school. I wish I could be able to make stella be in school. How many other girls like Stella have dropped out of school due to lack of fees? 6 years agoThank you so much, those of you who have donated so far (you know who you are). I know most of us receive a lot of these requests and it's hard to help everyone, but this one is special to me - I know it will directly help a little girl, I know where she lives and I know Margaret who will get the money to her. It will change her life . . . please dig deep, the rest of you, and share more widely if you can. Big thanks from me xx
