This is my 3rd year doing the Great North Run and each time I have chosen charities that are close to my heart. This year I have chosen the Hartlepool Lifeboat station. My husband Mark is a volunteer crew member so I know first hand what that entails. Their pager might go in the middle of the night or during family time we've even been known to abandon a shopping trolley in Asda! They never know what they are going to be faced with or what dangers they will face. As you can imagine the sea can be a very scary place. The money I raise will go towards lifesaving equipment so these hubands,wives, partners, sons, daughters, Mams and Dads can get home safe after saving others loved ones.
