Raising funds to help with travel & living costs for my my life long friends life saving double lung transplant operation in Newcastle.

Most parents live and breathe for their children however for my friend Helen breathing doesn't come easy. Helen is a single parent to 3 children aged 29, 11 & 6.

In 2008 Helen was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis which is a type of interstitial lung disease the cause is unknown and there is no cure, up until now the medication has slowed down the disease but this is no longer effective.

Helen's only option now is to undergo a double lung transplant to save her life and give her more time with her children. Helen was assessed in August 2017 at the transplant centre in Freemans Hospital Newcastle and returned for a review 3 months later and it was decided that the only option was a transplant.

The consent forms were signed on the 2nd November 2017 so Helen has now been placed on the active transplant waiting list. The waiting game is on for a suitable donor and when the call comes she will have 15 to 30 minutes to prepare herself for the journey to Newcastle for this life changing/saving operation.

Helen will be in Newcastle for 4 to 6 weeks depending on recovery. During this time she requires someone to be with her to support her during this difficult time and journey so myself and her eldest daughter will be this support but need to fund our own accommodation, travel and living costs during this time so we urgently need to raise funds to cover these unavoidable expenses.

Helen is currently on oxygen therapy fulltime to help with her breathing. Please help us no matter how little as every penny helps and is greatly appreciated and one less stress to worry about.
