I've just returned from a Trustees' visit to Malawi for Angels International. The charity as always have so much to achieve there for the rural hospitals, so I want to build this hostel with you, my friends.
It's for teenage girls, who passionately want to attend school, but live too far from the school to make the journey everyday. At the moment they are sleeping anywhere - by the side of the roads, in deserted huts, anywhere they can. The sisters at the local convent have let them stay in an old hut in their compound, but the roof is collapsing, they have no water nearby and nowhere to cook. I went to talk to them. Many live over 3 hours walk away. Their parents have no money to pay for them to stay near their school. It's extremely dangerous for these teenage girls to have no safe refuge at night. It makes them incredibly vulnerable. All they want is to be educated. Please help me keep the girls safe.
£6,000 isn't a huge amount if you think about the difference it can make. And when these girls have finished school, others will take their place. What an achievement to say we as group built this hostel!
