Story
"Once upon a time, words began to vanish from the language of children. They disappeared so quietly that at first almost no one noticed - fading away like water on stone. The words were those that children used to name the natural world around them: acorn; adder; bluebell; bramble; conker - gone! Fern, heather, kingfisher, otter, raven, willow, wren...all of them gone.!" And so begins Lost Words. We would like to donate a copy of this book to the nine schools and pre-schools that have come together to grow Garvagh Forest School. It would be an incredible resource for the young people and teachers to use to reconnect to the natural world around them and a strong community message about the importance of our relationships with the natural world for our own well-being, creativity and imagination and relationships across the community.

6 years agoThank you so much everyone for donating to buy Lost Words for Garvagh Forest schools. We reached our target in one week! These books will now be winging their way to those schools to inspire young people's imagination and creativity in Garvagh Forest and the many other beautiful natural spaces we connect to.
