As a group of trainee teachers, we sat to discuss what we could do in order to better or learning and intellect. We looked into placement, youth work and communal sessions. However, we still felt like we could be doing more; for both of ourselves and for society. For this reason, we started looking into fundraising abroad in disadvantaged areas. Along the endless hours of researching, we discovered an amazing opportunity to teach for two weeks in Fiji in a local school and homeless shelter. The organisation that opens these wonderful opportunities purely rely on volunteers to help teach and feed the vulnerable members whose lives and futures depend on these types of trips.
In order to fully apply and pay for our trip we need help with fundraising as the trip costs around £1,600 without flights!! And as students, this is a significant barrier.
We want to HIGHLY EMPHASISE that this opportunity is not a holiday, it's a trip to help volunteer and to work together alongside an amazing group of people to help better the lives of vulnerable children and adults.
