Story
Kipling is a very special cat. He found us in an amazing way, by literally coming through the cat flap of the property we use as our postal address. He was filthy, thin and exhausted. I looked at him and he looked at me and click, there he was. Scooped up, cleaned up, fleaed, wormed, neutered, vaccinated and fed. Kipling (aka Kippers) proved the ultimate cat. More dog like than cat, he would follow you around. Always gentle and loving. The girls next door would look up to my back bedroom window as they left for school and, if Kipling was there, they would call him and he would put one paw on the window, almost as if he was waving them goodbye. On the other side the 2 boys, one autistic, loved him too. He was a popular Facebook presence on our Streetkatz pages.
Tragically, he was the victim of a rta on June 2nd. The driver didn't stop but other drivers did. Because he was still alive and was trying to walk to find his way home. Kind people stopped and alerted us to his plight and he was rushed to the vets where he was found to have extremely serious head injuries. So he has had various x-rays and an operation to put his head back together. He has serious jaw fractures, eye issues and a feeding tube which he is not tolerating very well. And his breathing is a concern. The car ran over him, he had tyre marks. He was just sitting to the side of the road and clearly visible.
Streetkatz is extremely grateful to Culverdens Vets in Tunbridge Wells and especially to Philip Cusack who stayed after hours to operate so that we did not have the huge fees of the emergency vets coming shortly after. Nonetheless we face a large bill for a small charity and so we are launching this appeal to help pay for Kipling's treatment. This gorgeous boy will need ongoing care for many weeks and possibly further ops. Please help me to save my gentle and loving boy. If love could make him better, he would be rushing around saying hello to all his human and feline pals

7 years agoThank you so much for your generosity in donating to our Kipling Appeal. In addition to the £500 raised here, we raised another £422 privately, making £922 in total. We are pleased to say that Kipling has come through a second round of surgery and is now without his feeding tube and is eating on his own, albeit pate type food rather than chunks or biscuits. This lovely boy is doing really well to the amazement of us all. Thank you for helping it happen.

7 years agoThank you so much for your very generous support - it's incredible to think Kipling has touched so many hearts! After a few days and a call to put Kipling to sleep, I am pleased to say he is improving. He still has a long way to go and will require further surgery to remove an eye in due course if he makes it which I am feeling more optimistic about today. He seems brighter and his tongue which was causing such concern is pinker. His poor head is still very swollen and sore but he is tolerating the feeding tube better. Fingers crossed!
