As you all know, Kate has very suddenly been left a single mother of two young children with no income as Nick was the sole earner. Her immediate needs include housing, bills, funeral expenses, etc.

Additional money will be gratefully used to help the children make a gentler transition to their new circumstances through funding their out of school activities to help them maintain a sense of normality.

Importantly: Kate needs a job. She was a school matron and teaching assistant before she became a stay at home mother, although any future work does not necessarily need to be in the education sector.
