Let us all give back to Lorraine ...

On 15th September 2017 our lives would change once again when our mother (Lorraine McCarthy) got taken into hospital. Unknown to us at the time the tests would present us with the news that would shatter our hearts. Our mum was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable lung cancer. To hear the words "inoperable" were incomprehensible to us at the time and are still exceptionally painful to hear. Although this awful disease for our mum is not curable we are frantically clutching at time with palliative chemotherapy. But that is the problem with time; there is never enough of it. The consultant oncologist has made an estimation that mum has up to a year or less to live, even with the help of chemotherapy.

Our mum is so strong and she is fighting this every step of the way. Anyone who knows mum knows that she makes the world a brighter place. We want to make her last months with us as pain free and enjoyable as possible. Mum is a single foster carer and is not entitled to sick benefits. Mum has been paying out for life insurance for an awful event such as this, however now the company is refusing to pay out (we cannot name the company currently due to legal reasons). That pay out would have prevented all of this additional stress at such a hard time for the family. We do not want our mums final memories to be full of financial burden. Mum has spent her whole life helping others, now it is our chance to give back. This money will hopefully eradicate the worries of finding the money for the mortgage, bills and food each month. Let's give mum the opportunity to make some real memories that we can cherish for a life time.
