'Shared Freedom – Shared Future' was conceived by students. We want to illustrate to young people their common history with Polish immigrants to Hereford, in particular the stories of local post WW2 Polish settlers to the area, who fought with Britain towards the end of the war. We want our peers to understand that the burden of bravery and ultimate triumph in the face of evil was shared between nations – in the hope that this understanding will lead to more cooperation with people of different nationalities in the future.

Starting from our research on this topic through local sites and museum and archive collections, we will create a short dual language film and a dual language exhibition. The film and exhibition will be shown to 2,855 young people living in Herefordshire and will be accessed by a total of 8,400 people. All the relevant archive items and newspapers will be digitalised and made available online, together with the oral history recordings created in the research phase of the project and an educational resource pack. All these outputs will be created and used by young people as part of the project.
