Story
Katie was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition affecting the lungs, digestive system and other organs.
Katie attended the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at Papworth Hospital from the age of 16. Papworth have an amazing team of specialist consultants, specialist nurses, ward nursing team, physiotherapists, dieticians, pharmacists and others. Katie was cared for in the inpatient CF ward several times during periods of being unwell. The ensuite rooms with air conditioning, TV, Wii Fit and treat trolley made these times easier for Katie and us as a family.
Recently Katie’s health had been deteriorating and she was being considered for a lung transplant. This was something Katie felt hugely positive about and excited that it would give her the chance to have a more normal life in the future. Katie always said she had a lot to live for - a loving husband and family.
Katie caught a virus that her body could not fight and she passed away on Thursday 16th November 2017 surrounded by her close family.
We will miss her so much - her love, her infectious giggle, her one liners, her fantastic impressions, her voice and her smile.
We as a family have decided to set up this crowdfunding page to allow us to raise donations in Katie's memory. Papworth Hospital are relocating to the Addenbrookes site in 2018 where a new Cystic Fibrosis Centre will be set up. We intend to keep this page open for a year and then donate the money raised to support the new unit and the patients and families with CF.

6 years agoWe set up our fund in memory of Kate who died nearly a year ago and originally planned to raise £1,000 to buy something special in her memory at the new Royal Papworth Hospital. We have now smashed our £4,000 target and reached an incredible £4,201.55. A massive thank you to you all for donating. A special thank you to the individuals who very kindly did something amazing to enable more funds to be raised. Love from Kate's family XXXXXX

6 years agoKatie's Mum Harriet organised a fundraising dog walk on the 29th September. The sun was out (thanks Kate!) and we had a fabulous 3 mile walk through Goldstones Farm and returned for hot drinks and cake! Homemade cake and produce were popular as well as the second hand books stall. Harriet, Emma and Lucy were really touched by the amount of people who joined in. All the children dogs were very well behaved!!! We raised £531.55. Thank you!
