My gorgeous daughter Tilly has one flaw, she has unilateral hearing loss. Meaning she's missing out on experiencing the world like the rest of us. She's as bright as a button and has a close group of friends. But her potential is hampered in a class of 31, when she can't hear or lip read her teacher.
I am raising funds to assist the monies needed for her to have surgery to fully correct this.

Tilly has been under the care of the nhs ENT service for the last 3 years. Firstly she had her tonsils removed, then subsequently she was re-referred for hearing loss.

Unfortunately, the nhs can only offer the proposed surgery (grommet insertion and removal of her adenoids) for those children with bilateral hearing loss. This is based on evidence that children with only single hearing loss do not fall behind in school as a result. Hmmm, I question this study. However, as a fellow nhs employee I realise that guidance and criteria must be enforced somewhere; and obviously this isn't life and death.

But for Tilly, following a private consultation with her nhs consultant. We have been strongly advised that she will benefit from bilateral grommets and adenoidectomy. My heart strings are being pulled, and I have to do the best for my daughter. The price tag of this is £2500; of which, with the support of my family I will pay somehow. But those of you who know my current struggles appreciate that this is going to be rather challenging.

So, although it feels very awkward to ask for help, what have I got to loose? For those that might be able to donate I am incredibly grateful, for those that aren't able to, that's also more than fine. Life is a struggle for us all at times, I understand that more than many.

Update, i am absolutely overwhelmed. In less than 12 hours we have smashed 60% of the total,my jaw in on the floor! Wow, just proves what incredible friends and family I have. Thank you to all those who have liked, shared, left messages of support and donated. Amazing!

For those who have asked, it is the normal development of glue ear that it clears itself; usually over a relatively shirt period of time. But unfortunately for Tilly over the last 2 years it has progressively deteriorated, going from mild to severe hearing loss. It is unlikely that it will sort itself out within the next few years and therefore she will continue to be prone to constant ear infections and remain with her hearing lossz. This is also further impacted due to her enlarged adenoids which prevent fluid draining sufficiently. All in all, its time to act for us as a family.

Once again, i think you are all worth your weight in gold (if only i could repay you). Please know that my heart is fuzzy! Xxx
