13 year old Ryan Inglis broke his hip playing Rugby with friends at the beginning of September 2016. What should have been a straight forward operation to fix his hip turned into a living nightmare. The surgery that should have only taken a couple of hours ended up 8 hours long resulting in Ryan contracting compartment syndrome on his opposite leg which resulted in Ryan being in hospital for 4 weeks. He was in Intensive Care, the High Dependency Unit and the Childrens Ward at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. He was sent home from hospital with a hospital bed but is not entitled to a motorised wheelchair.
Ryan is completely house bound and still can't walk at all, he's got drop foot on the same leg he contracted compartment syndrome and a twist in the leg that he broke his hip.
We are looking to raise as much as we can to help fund an all terrain wheelchair to help Ryan gain his independance and confidence to get out of the house and back to school.
