The study Site (above photography) is located in northern Georgia on outskirts of Stepantsminda/Kazbegi, in Khevi region within central part of Grater Caucasus.This particular Site discovered by myself two years ago has clear pattern of easy to distinguish features(remains of stone masonry, ramparts, mounds, terraces, access route).I will be trying to define chronology and origin of presented feature using non invasive methods.Site of my interest, tells story on its own, planned archaeological mitigation gives an immense opportunity in identification and setting described site in wider context.Study site which is an isolate hillfort upon river flowing from glacier has size of app.1ha and several segments,on each remains of different features.Survey starting in September 2017 will build topographical/physical map including record of stone walls,remains of ramparts,aerial photography taken by drone.In 2018 I would like employ geophisical scan.
Survey will implement wide sort of recording methods from traditional hand recording within single context methodology, aerial photography/drone photography, use of essential total station measuring device and metal detector.Article, as well as presentation for eventual international conference will be prepared due curse of post ex process. Gathered data will be included into my future PhD.To achieve scoped tasks,team of max. three members will be formed, working as a volunteers for six days.In practical matter, finances are needed for transport including fly tickets,equipment rental(drone,total station,metal detector). Purchasing of external hard drive to store photographs and scan of site archive.An essential is recording paper work (waterproof:drafting paper/permatrace,context registers and context sheets,notebook),stationery.Accommodation in reasonable neighbourhood to the site has been booked.At the top of it stays impossible to avoid, insurance.I will be pleased by given trust.Thank you:)
