Story
Worcester Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce the selection of Stephen Kearney as their Parliamentary Candidate for the General Election.
Mike Mullins, the Chair of the Liberal Democrats in Worcester said
“Stephen is a breath of fresh air for the city and the country. He is a businessman and co-founder of the United Kingdom Youth Parliament, an idea he started to develop during his childhood in the city. Stephen was also directly responsible for training 5000 organisers in communities all over the country to listen to people in their homes and support them to tackle the economic, social, cultural and environmental problems they face.”
Stephen said,
“I’m proud to be standing in Worcester. My city deserves a new and revolutionary approach that is completely rooted in hope, optimism, entrepreneurialism and compassion. I am sick of the current messages of hate, pessimism and despair offered by the distant political elite.”
He said “Basic strategic thinking in Worcester is lacking.”
The city will soon connect with Kempsey because of development proposals in St Peters and the establishment parties seem to think another ring road is the only answer. The county has been shamed by Ofsted because it fails to care for children and our NHS is under threat. Politically the last 20 years have been disastrous for Worcester. Well enough is enough.
Worcester needs a completely different approach and I am going to offer that.”
